Can you help people lead more meaningful lives?
29 May 2015
Brands promise us all kinds of wonderful things, whether it’s adventure, status, romance, energy or a sense of calm. But it’s rare that the products and services on offer fully deliver on these promises.
So which companies are getting it right, which are getting it wrong, and what can your business practically do to engage the new wave of consumers and staff demanding more meaningful business practices?
Best-selling author, philosopher and Founder of The School of Life Alain de Botton comments, “Every good brand promises to make its customers happy. Perhaps it speaks of being calm or successful, popular or energetic, environmental or luxurious - whatever it may be, in some way it’s pointing us to how we might improve our lives and reach a higher level of fulfilment. But traditionally, brands have left the precise connection between their products and services and their promises of happiness a little vague. Yet today’s consumers have grown more psychologically-minded than ever and are readier to ask big questions about the good life. They want to know how to achieve calm, what the foundations of a good relationship might be or what kind of success is worth striving for".
We've collaborated with The School of Life to launch Business Wise - a unique event exploring how brands can practically engage with the current wave of customers and employees demanding more meaningful business practices.
Alain de Botton will head up a line-up of influential speakers at the event which will take place at The Southbank Centre on Thursday, June 4th (12pm to 6pm).
