Claire Gillespie
Claire has worked in the skills sector for almost 20 years and within digital technology skills since 2014 when she led the development of Skills Development Scotland’s first Skills Investment Plan for the tech sector. Now Claire works closely with Scottish Government to support digital economy skills neds and this includes delivering actions from the Safer Communities Cyber Resilience Skills Action Plan, and from the Scottish Tech Ecosystem Review. Passionate about the difference that the digital economy can make to individuals, businesses and communities, Claire sits on a number of Advisory Boards to influence change, including Chairing The Scotland’s 5G Centre’s Strategic Advisory Group.
Claire has had an eclectic career journey into her current role, which started with studying Hospitality Management with aspirations to be a chef. Thereafter gaining a Degree in Business and Entrepreneurship Studies from the University of West of Scotland, and completing a part time evening LLB Law Degree from the University of Strathclyde.
Outside of work Claire likes to keep fit with running and walking and spends the rest of her free time looking after an ever growing menagerie of animals!
