Chris is the Director of Policy and Public Affairs of the Data & Marketing Association having previously served as CEO for 15 years until January 2025. The DMA is the UK’s leading trade association for today’s progressive data driven marketers. Our mission is to build more responsible, ethical, diverse, creative and innovative organisations by setting, promoting and teaching the standards to build trust and deliver marketing effectiveness.
Chris is committed to industry best practice and is currently Co-Chair of Fedma, Chair of JICMAIL and a board director of the GDMA, Asbof and CAP. Chris chaired the previous government’s Business Advisory Group on the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill and continues to take a leading role influencing the final text of the Data Usa and Access Bill.
Chris is an experienced international marketer with 45 years advertising and 1 to 1 marketing experience in Europe, the USA and Asia/Pacific including senior roles at client, agency and marketing technology companies.
From 2000 to 2009, Chris developed Emailvision, a French company, into Europe’s leading email service provider (ESP) in his dual roles of Chief Operating Officer and UK Managing Director.
Chris launched his career in New York with Young & Rubicam and his 12 years at Y&R included founding the Wunderman direct-marketing office in Singapore in 1992 and managing the Wunderman office in Hong Kong. Chris moved to London in 1994 as European Media Director for Franklin Mint and created his own on-line catalogue company (Living Heritage) in 1998.
