DMA Future Writers' Lab - Curing Writer's Block

Writing is a skill that I have always enjoyed and use in my marketing work at Royal Mail. However I often suffer from a lack of confidence and have been known to procrastinate over copy for what seems like a never-ending time, then panic write as deadlines approach.

Attending the Future Writers’ Lab felt daunting at first, but Debi’s positive and supportive teaching style helped the class to relax and work together. We enjoyed sharing and listening to each other’s work.

The interesting speakers challenged us to consider our writing style, format and content, including how to scrutinise data and use it to build arguments in our work. Exhilarating tasks have inspired me, hugely helping with my confidence. We surprised ourselves at what we could produce on different subjects in a short space of time.

I am now offering my services more at work and further developing some drama scripts that I’ve been sitting on at home. I’d recommend the Future Writers’ Lab to anyone who uses copywriting at work or is looking for motivation. It was a fab course which made me nervous, excited, focussed and developed my ability in writing in different formats.
