DMA Talent Breakthrough Award 2024 Terms and Conditions

  • By entering this award, you acknowledge and agree that all copyright and other intellectual property rights in your competition submission are hereby assigned to Barclays.
  • By submitting your entry, you give the DMA the right to upload this to a private password protected DMA Awards online page for the Breakthrough Award judges to access.
  • The word of the DMA and Barclays is final irrespective of the result.

Entries

  • Closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 27 October 2024 at 23:59.
  • Entrants must be UK residents and either full-time students or non-professionals. You do not need to obtain permission from your course lecturer to enter.
  • You can enter as an individual or as a team of two. More than one team is permitted to enter from the same educational institution.
  • Entries are to be submitted online via the DMA website (https://dma.org.uk/talent/dma-breakthrough-award-2024-application-from) before the closing date specified.
  • An entry must articulate your big idea for the campaign on one side of A4 uploaded in pdf format.
  • Your name(s) should be stated at the top of each document you submit.
  • Entries must be the sole work of the team and must not have infringed any third-party intellectual property rights.
  • The DMA does not hold responsibility for lost, damaged or incomplete entries which are lost due to email transmission problems.

Judging process

  • Judging criteria is based on the most creative and effective response to the brief. The DMA will not give individual feedback regarding any entry submitted that is not successful in progressing to the regional heats.
  • The initial judging process consists of a judging panel reviewing all entries during w/c 28 October 2024, with chosen teams being invited to attend and present at one of our regional heats in Edinburgh, London, Manchester, South Wales and Online. There will be an option to attend the online regional heat if you are not within a commutable distance of any regional heat.
  • Teams and/or individuals will be notified of their invitation to the regional heat by Wednesday 6 November 2024 and will need to confirm attendance by Friday 8 November 2024. Please ensure the contact details submitted are correct.
  • The regional heats will give each team the opportunity to present and pitch to a judging panel including representatives from Barclays.
  • 1 winning entry will be chosen at the end of each regional heat. The winning team from each regional heat will be crowned a DMA Talent Breakthrough Award Regional Winner and be invited to progress to the grand final in London on Tuesday 3 December 2024.

Grand final

  • The five regional winners will be invited to pitch on Tuesday 3 December 2024 at a central London location.
  • The winners of each regional heat will be notified by phone/email that they have been selected as regional heat winners on the day of their regional heat and will need to confirm their attendance at the final on Tuesday 3 December 2024 via email. Unsuccessful teams will be notified by email.
  • The DMA will assist with travel expenses and cover overnight accommodation costs for the final in London on Tuesday 3 December 2024. Each individual team member should contact Anna on Anna.Lancahire@dma.org.uk to make the arrangements.

Results and prizes

  • The winners of the grand final will be announced at the DMA Awards ceremony on Tuesday 3 December 2024.
  • The DMA will pay for all finalists’ tickets to attend the DMA Awards ceremony.
  • The winner of the grand final will be presented with a trophy, and a £500 prize. If you enter as an individual you will recieve the full £500, if you enter as a team of two, you will spit the price and recieve £250 each. Prize money will be transferred via BACS from the DMA to the bank accounts provided within three weeks of the DMA Awards ceremony.
  • If you are one of the five grand final teams, you agree to your pitch material being used for promotional purposes by the Data & Marketing Association UK Limited (‘DMA’), registered company (England) number 2667995, limited by guarantee.   • You also agree to engage in post awards publicity, which may include: comments made during pitches and the awards ceremony appearing in articles published by the DMA and appearing on video content distributed by the DMA.
