Merry Christmas from DMA Talent!
18 Dec 2018
2018, what a year.
It’s been a whirlwind for DMA Talent. Manic you could say, but it’s been great.
If you don’t know much about us, we’re a team of 4. And yes, we’d like to think we’re pretty fantastic but we’re not super human. Our successful year is undoubtedly the result of the amazing help we receive from the data and marketing community.
You’re a great bunch, and from the bottom of our hearts thank you for your continued support throughout the year. From sponsoring programmes to lending us your event space to making us cups of tea we really couldn’t have done it without you.
We’ll keep what’s made it so special short because we know you’ll need to get back to fighting over the office Celebrations soon.
2018 in the shape of DMA Talent:
- 586 applications for Creative Data Academy 2018 with 170 students securing a place at a 3 day academy or 1 day lab
- 1 day labs introduced for the first time in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow. Next year’s labs will be supported by TFL
- 30 students out of 188 applications made it to join us for Summer School
- 302 aspiring creatives had their portfolios seen by a senior creative at one of our Big Book Crit events
- We held our first ever Discover Digital event in conjunction with Barnardo’s Make Trax
- 32 businesses came through the doors at one of our neurodiversity workshops in London, Manchester and Bristol
- Kate Burnett (MD of DMA Talent) represented our industry at the House of Lords
- 21 pairs were matched up through our mentoring scheme
- Reconnect invited ex-students back for the very first time to help get them back on the right track to finding that dream job
- We launched our first ever skills survey - watch this space in 2019
- For the first time ever we had 3 female finalists from Edinburgh College for the DMA Breakthrough Award. And, another first, there was a joint silver
We could go on, but we won’t. You might get left with the Bounty.
So if you became a mentor, gave a talk, ran a workshop, critiqued some work or just gave one of our students a break this year. Thank you.
We’ll be back for an even bigger 2019 so get in touch if you’d like to be a part of it. From partnering with us on Creative Data to helping shape how school children see our industry, we've got plenty you can get stuck into. You can also find us on Twitter @DMATalent or Instagram @DMA_Talent if you'd like to find out news as and when we release it.
From the 4 of us in DMA Talent, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
