The DMA's work on customer engagement has already examined the language of engagement in retail and in financial services. We've also uncovered the most popular brands - according to consumers, and redefined the rules of engagement.

Now we focus on helping you develop the skills to take your customer engagement approaches to the next level as we launch our Labs series.

Customer Engagement Labs

The Labs are a one-day, immersive experience set in a live hackathon environment - a practical guide to excellence in your engagement work - guided by hand-picked experts in engagement.

With capacity for three teams of six, as a Labs scholar you tackle a live brief pitched by a leading brand. For the pilot scheme which gets underway in May 2017, Hilton has kindly agreed to be the client. You will:

  • Create a multichannel campaign, featuring in-bound and out-bound, on and offline characteristics
  • Test your ideas and executions with an on-site consumer panel, and feedback with another panel staffed by engagement practitioners
  • Access tools and resources to enable you to creatively design and build towards memorable campaign delivery
  • Grow your understanding of how to work better, on better engagement outcomes, with other departments in your organisation
  • If your work wins, your campaign will be in with a chance to be implemented by the brand setting your brief

Labs entry requirements

We are looking for dynamic marketers from a rich mix of backgrounds: tech, creative and data job profiles are all welcome. Maybe you are a brand manager, or an agency account team? What also matters is that you bring an inquisitve, teamworking nature to the Labs and you're ready to innovate around how the marketing industry thinks about engagement.
