DMA Inputs to Scotland's Digital Strategy

On 11 March, the Scottish Government released their updated Digital Strategy. The strategy has been updated following the development of the AI Strategy for Scotland - a central tenet of the new strategy - and the changing nature of public service delivery during the coronavirus pandemic.

A key part of the digital strategy is the engagement with organisations central to Scotland's data and digital economy.

The Strategy states that:

"the commitment to work together remains as strong as ever as we work to put this strategy into practice – a commitment to change the way we work to ensure services are designed to meet the needs of the user, to deliver economic recovery, to meet climate change targets and to ensure that everyone in Scotland has the skills, connectivity and devices required to fully participate in our digital nation."

As such, the DMA will be contributing to a workshop to inform recommendations to the Scottish Government on the cultural and creative aspects that will underpin the vision of Scotland an ethical digital nation.

In particular, the chapter on an Ethical Digital Nation sets out a number of objectives including building public trust in the use of data, using digital technologies to increase public participation, balancing digital rights with responsibilities and accountability for actions. DMA Scotland's Value of Data campaign has key learnings to be shared for the recommendations to Scottish Ministers.
