What is day-to-day life like as a Insight Analsyt and what are the main responsibilities, and what skills do you need to excel?

We chatted to Maria-Madalina Ifrim, who is currently working as an Insight Analys at eBay, to find out how she finds working in the marketing industry and what it took to get to where she is today.

Key responsibilities

- Translating business challenges into analytical questions

- Ensuring all business decisions utilise data and insight

- Analysing data, identifying trends and providing actionable insight

- Continuously looking to improve reporting systems

- Creating, managing and presenting dashboards for clients and key stakeholders

-Building and testing basic queries on in house social and search data tools

- Maintaining and building dashboards for customers

- Synthesising data and analysis into impactful, action orientated reports

Requirements

If you are to be successful as an Insight Analyst, you must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in order to suggest solutions to problems swiftly

Have a good understanding of database interrogation and analysis tools

Excellent communication and presentation skills in order explain your findings to people who don't understand the mechanics behind data analysis

Effective listening skills in order to understand company values and goals

Be resilient to try new ideas if you face hurdles, you'll be expected to work with little to no supervision, so it's important that you're able to motivate yourself

Good planning, time management and organisational skills

Be able to deliver under time pressured conditions and meet tight deadlines consistently

Great teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding solutions
