Tell us who you are, what you do and who you do it for

I'm Kate Bird, and I'm the CMO for The Sun at News UK.

What made you decide to get involved in the DMA Awards 2017?

I have always been a huge fan of the DMAs. Having chaired one of the categories last year as seeing some of the work submitted, I am very excited about the high standards and criteria set by the DMA to find excellence in marketing.

As a born marketeer, measuring against insights, and data to create brilliant results is something I feel very passionately about, especially in the changing world we are in.

What will you be looking for from the work in your category?

Solid insight and data to back up creative thought: Ways of looking at audiences and their behaviour and addressing work in a thoughtful way, with robust results.

Experimentation: We're in a world of every changing technology and cultures and I'm always looking for work that takes us to new places and that is not afraid to explore that.

Use of new platforms: Ways audience engage is ever changing, and I'm always interested to see how campaigns and ideas are addressing that.

What are you expectations for the DMA Awards 2017?

It's going to be difficult to top the awards every year!

Always great fun, and brilliant to be part of recognising excellent work in our industry.
