Modern businesses are undoubtedly hung up on creating the perfect office culture; managers and those in charge want to ensure staff are healthy and happy at work, but they are also interested in ensuring the company itself comes across well to third-parties – whether that be potential clients, new employees or the media, for example.

But it seems that one kind of change in particular is very popular amongst businesses at the moment – that of reducing waste and improving efficiencies. And according to an article on the Business Quarter website, one way for companies to effectively implement a climate-focused agenda is to tackle print management.

With an effective print management system in place, overflowing recycle bins and wasted paper will be a thing of the past. Reducing the amount of single side printing performed and accidental printing of unnecessary pages will help to improve printing efficiency and office culture.

Creating a print policy can be hard, however, so many businesses opt for an outsourced print services provider to guarantee a professional service. A print services provider will be able to manage print jobs remotely, without the need for user interaction- printing can be done via email with the correct settings automatically put in place (single or double-sided), so that every print job is as environmentally-friendly as possible. They can also inform employees about pending print jobs and whether they are still required, cutting back on unnecessary printing; details such as the number of pages, amount of colour used and the cost of the print job can be provided.

So as well as reducing print wastage and championing more economical printing practices, print management can also improve the safety of printed documents. Print jobs of confidential documents can be programmed to only be released once a password has been entered or a user-card inserted into the print device. Print providers can even determine the most economical device to be used for each print job – saving money in the long run.
