Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation announces first consultations
09 May 2019
The recently-formed Centre or Data Ethics and Innovation has announced two consultations in the first areas of research with which it has been charged to research.
The CDEI will examine both online targeting and bias in algorithmic decision making.
The CDEI was launched earlier this year and tasked with examining the role of data, AI and technology on business, individuals and wider society.
This is a great opportunity to contribute to discussions on data ethics that will contribute to government policy and public debate. As such, the DMA shall be issuing responses to both consultations. If you would like to discuss the consultations and relay your feedback for the DMA response, please contact public affairs manager, Michael Sturrock (michael.sturrock@dma.org.uk).
The online targeting call for evidence will close on 14 June. Please issue responses to the DMA by May 31.
As the bias in algorithmic decision-making call for evidence is split by sector, they have different deadlines:
For: 1) crime and justice and 2) financial services, the call for evidence will close on 14 June. For this, please also issue responses to the DMA by May 31.
For: 3) local government and 4) recruitment, it will close on 19 July. For this, please issue responses to the DMA by 01 July.
