Brexit Data Transfers Issue Gaining National Attention

T-guardian-3.jpg

The issue of Brexit and the impact on data flows is one of great concern for the data and marketing industry.

A no deal Brexit or a Brexit deal that does not contain a ‘data adequacy agreement’ has grave implications for businesses that exchange data with the EU.

This is an issue picked up in the Guardian this weekend by political editor Toby Helm, who highlighted research by University College London showing the dangers to a range of industries if data flows between the UK and EU are not maintained in their current form.

The DMA has been working to prepare businesses on this issue for the past year. Last week, we updated our Brexit toolkit, which outlines the various avenues available for maintaining data flows with the EU post-Brexit.

Businesses should familiarise themselves with these options and ensure preparedness for all eventualities.
