DMA Talent Marketing Challenge 2022 Entry Terms and Conditions

  • The Promoter of this Challenge is DMA Talent.
  • By entering this competition you acknowledge and agree that all copyright and other intellectual property rights in your competition submission are hereby assigned to DMA Talent and Whyte & Mackay.
  • By submitting your entry, you give DMA Talent the right to securely send your application to external judges.
  • You agree that all work is created by the team members, with no input from a third party who may have separate intellectual property rights in the content.
  • The word of DMA Talent and Whyte & Mackay is final, irrespective of the result.
  • Entries must be in compliance with the DMA Code and the CAP code.

Entry process:

  • Closing date for entries is Monday 6 June 2022, 23:59 GMT.
  • Entrants must be UK residents and students, studying any subject. You do not need to obtain permission from your course lecturer to enter.
  • This is a team competition. Minimum of 3 people per team with a maximum of 6 per team. More than one team is permitted to enter from the same educational institution.
  • Only one entry per team to be submitted. Multiple entries from the same team will be disqualified. Individuals can only be part of one team.
  • Entries are to be submitted online via the DMA website (https://dma.org.uk/talent/dma-talent-marketing-challenge-2022-entry-form) before the closing date specified. An entry must include an elevator pitch video (maximum 4 minutes) and a pdf document (no more than 20 pages) containing your campaign idea and supporting material as outlined in the brief.
  • Your team name should be stated at the top of your pdf document.
  • Entries must be the sole work of the team and must not have infringed any third party intellectual property rights.
  • DMA Talent does not hold responsibility for lost, damaged or incomplete entries that are lost due to transmission problems.

Judging process:

  • Judging criteria is based on the most creative and effective response to the brief.
  • DMA Talent will not give individual feedback from the judges regarding any entry entered that are or are not successful in progressing to pitch stage.
  • The judging process consists of an initial review of all video entries received, followed by a review of the pdf documents.
  • The judges will decide on a shortlist of between 3 to 5 teams.
  • The shortlisted teams will be notified by phone and email if they are successful by the end of June 2022. Unsuccessful applications will be notified by email by the end of June 2022.
  • The shortlisted teams will be invited to pitch to Whyte & Mackay, virtually or in Glasgow/London. Pitches will take place in July 2022 – once the exact date is confirmed, we will publish this on the DMA Talent website.
  • The winning team will be selected and notified after the client has seen all pitches, and announced on the DMA Talent website.


Prizes and promotion:

  • The winning team will win a total team prize of £1,000, divided up between its members. Prize money will be divided equally amongst team members and transferred via BACS within 4 weeks of the winners being announced. The winning team will also win a marketing workshop with Whyte and Mackay at the Dalmore Distillery.
  • The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
  • The promoter will notify the winners within 48 hours of the pitch and make arrangements for the prize money to be distributed to team members.
  • The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
  • The winners agree to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winners or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current [UK] data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  • Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Twitter or any other social network.
  • If you are one of the finalists, you agree to your pitch material being used for promotional purposes by The Data and Marketing Association (UK) Limited (DMA), registered company (England) number 2667995, limited by guarantee. Registered office: DMA House, 70 Margaret Street, London, W1W 8SS.
  • You also agree to engage in post competition publicity, which may include comments made during pitches appearing in articles published by the above companies (IDM & DMA) and appearing on video content distributed by the DMA.
