Established in 1972, the Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity. Its aims are to prevent the further loss of ancient woodland, to restore and improve the biodiversity of woods, to increase the area of new native woodland. It does this through lobbying and campaigning, acquisition and managment of woodland sites, planting native trees to buffer and expand existing woodland and create new woods, and by promoting the benefits of trees and woodland to society.
