Category chair: Caroline Kimber, director of data strategy, Stack

"With GDPR looming ever closer, I’m also on the lookout for entries that demonstrate good data best practice, particularly in transparency, accountability and governance."

Tell us who you are, what you do and who you do it for

I'm the director of data strategy at Stack, where I'm responsible for planning and executing data-driven CRM, acquisition and analytics activity across offline and digital channels.

I also sit on the Awards and Customer Engagement Committees at the DMA.

What will you be looking for from the work in your category?

Some of the big trends in data this year have been around Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of things, so I’m very much hoping to see entries that have utilised these new techniques and technologies and taken learnings to a new dimension.

With GDPR looming ever closer, I’m also on the lookout for entries that demonstrate good data best practice, particularly in transparency, accountability and governance.

Aside from that, it’s always really interesting to see classic tried and tested datasets and methodologies applied in fresh, creative and quirky ways

And finally, there is nothing more satisfying than a robust data-driven campaign that has achieved amazing commercial result.

What are your predictions for the 2017 DMA Awards?

My hope is that 2017 is the year that the winner of the data strategy category wins the Grand Prix!
