UK Data Protection and Digital Information Bill: Have Your Say
22 Jul 2022
On Monday 18 July, the UK government published the Data Protection and Digital Information Bill.
The bill is the product of a major consultation the government held last year. It tables amendments to three pieces of legislation: UK GDPR, DPA2018 and PECR.
The DMA welcomes amendments that achieve a better balance between growth, innovation and data protection. This includes extending the soft opt-in for email to charities and the new strategic focus of the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
We will be studying the detailed legislative text and provide more detailed commentary in the coming weeks, as well as respond to the government accordingly.
We’d love to hear your views to help inform our response. Please email mike.lordan@dma.org.uk.
