It’s true that the stigma behind solo travel is fading as people’s perceptions of travel adapts to modern times - seeing the world is no longer the unattainable milestone it once was.
This new-found confidence in people is, of course, spurred on by the unlimited access we have to helpful information and inspiration at our fingertips.
Global is the largest commercial radio station in Europe. Last year they asked their diverse set of listeners about their attitudes and experience in travel. Here at Accord we have used their research to focus on the solo traveller and the influential factors that drive each of us to go away alone. In order to reach this market effectively, it is worth understanding who is paying the most attention at each stage of the traveller’s path to purchase. We found key differences existed between age groups and life stage, proving that solo travel does not just lie with the 20-something backpacker that stereotypes suggest.
