Jump into the Burberry Festive Film
27 Nov 2015
Burberry’s creative director Christopher Bailey has long been known to have pushed the digital and experiential agenda for the British luxury fashion brand. This year, Burberry (partnering with Google) is inviting customers in their Regents Street Flagship store to be part of their Festive Advertising campaign. Inspired by the 15 year anniversary of Billy Elliot the campaign features a cast from the worlds of film, TV, music and modelling. James Bay, George Ezra, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Michelle Dockery, James Corden and Romeo Beckham all feature in the festive film, together with Julie Walters (who had a BAFTA-winning role in the original production) and Sir Elton John (who wrote the soundtrack to the stage musical in 2005).
Upon entering the first floor of the flagship store, customers fill wind a Burberry Taube box. A shop assistant will offer you to pick a scarf to ensure that the content is on brand and showcasing their must current consumer push: the Burberry scarf bar and their monogramming services.
Upon entering the box, you are asked to adjust the corresponding mirror to your height before attempting a jump. Upon pressing the start button, you will be expected to jump to a camera shutter queue. It took us only 2 attempts – according to the shop assistant helping us out this was quite remarkable – before I was asked to enter my name and email address.
15 minutes later and still elated from the experience, I received an email with our personalized film.
If you watch very carefully you can see myself and my cousin jumping for about 5 seconds about half way through the film – I am wearing a red bubble hat so it will be hard to miss us.
Overall it was a great, fun and engaging experience that not just made us engage with the brand through having the luxury of picking a scarf to wear in our video but also by personalizing the video. I was more than happy to share my personal contact details with Burberry in return for being featured on their YouTube channel with my name on it.
Definitely recommend go along and jumping into Burberry’s festive film. May you be stronger than me and leave the store without a Christmas present in tow.
