How Long Does It Take to Sell an Agency?

Here's how it breaks down:

  1. Research & Information Preparation (Approx. 1 month – fixed)
This is the foundation. We work closely with agency owners to understand their business, craft the narrative, and prepare the documentation needed to engage potential buyers.
  2. Buyer Engagement & Facilitation (Variable – typically 3 to 6 months)
This stage can vary in length depending on market dynamics and the specifics of the agency. It includes:
Chemistry Meetings – NDA-protected initial meetings to assess compatibility.
Proposition Meetings – Deeper discussions to explore synergies, post-deal opportunities, and vision alignment.
Offers & Negotiation – Competitive offers are invited and negotiated, leading to the selection of a preferred party.
  3. Heads of Terms to Completion (Approx. 2 months – fixed)
Once Heads of Terms are signed, we enter the final stretch: legal, due diligence, final negotiations and contract completion.

While timings can vary, a well-run process typically takes around 6 to 9 months from start to finish. Our job is to manage momentum, protect value, and guide both sides through each step.

If you're considering your exit or just curious about how the process could look for your agency, we're always up for a confidential chat
