The Dartford, Kent division of national courier and logistics company CitySprint UK went for Imprint-MIS' Direct Mail business control system (BCS), along with Shop Floor Data Capture. The software will cover aspects of production and fulfilment.

General manager Nicky Hayes said the investment was “not far off six figures” and the company looked at five suppliers before honing the choice down to systems from Imprint and Tharstern.

“We wanted a system that encapsulated all that we do: printing, data processing, direct mail, fulfilment, distribution and postal. Some say they can do it all, but that isn't always the case.

“We liked Imprint because we were confident about the flexibility of the product; we want to expand the business and felt the system could grow with us.”

CitySprint Document Solutions has 18-staff and 13,000 clients and Hayes said wanted to push up turnover by 25% in the next 12 months.

CitySprint UK as a whole reported a £129m turnover for its financial year to 31 December 2014.

Its print division runs five Konica Minolta 1070 digital colour printers as well as inline finishing and perfect binding technology.

The BCS is a dedicated direct-mail module with specialist features such as an estimating module for multiple items and components of differing run lengths and data processing.

The module also makes it easier to control direct-mail campaigns within one order. The BCS dovetails with the company's existing internal software systems.

These include CRM and accounting packages, giving the company and its clients real-time visibility over the status of jobs and helping to provide a more automated workflow.

Hayes said: “We chose Imprint as our MIS partner as they understood our business and what we are looking for from an MIS system.

“We are confident the investment will help us to achieve real time process and cost efficiencies both within our business and for our clients.’’

Imprint-MIS sales and marketing director Wayne Beckett said: “Using Shop Floor Data Collection across the business will enable CitySprint to compare real costs to estimated costs.”
