7 Top Email Branding tips to drive engagement
13 Jun 2016
Surrounded by ‘to do lists’, and a high volume of emails coming in, we forget the modern world we live in, and the capabilities of everyday email. It is the ‘everyday’ that needs to be looked at closely, given that the average (none of us are average!) employee sends 125 emails a day.
With ‘email branding’ – interactive banners and signatures on everyday email (not bulk, newsletters or transactional) – every one of those emails ticks the ‘boxes’ that build your brand.
Ok, but does ‘email branding’ really deliver engagement? It does and here’s how…
1 – The right message at the right time
Apply banner campaign rules to every email that leaves your business, dependent on who the sender or receiver of the email is, this ensures the message is relevant.
2 – Hit the bulls eye – Target. Target. Target
Apply automated behavioural targeting to recipients based on their previous engagement. For example, communicate additional info about a new product in follow-up emails if the customer has previously clicked on a banner about the new product! It makes sense right?
3 – Am I doing a good job? Am I?? Gauge live customer feedback instantly
Busier than a lizard on hot rock? Ask your customers to rate your service in a single click. Multiple calls to actions can be tracked, with the option to be instantly alerted if the rating is poor. (Obviously this won’t happen!) Ratings can be directed to customer review sites such as Trip Advisor to ramp up reviews.
4 – Knowledge is power – Be in the know instantly
Sales team’s are always hungry, the CMO is always trying to feed them and the CEO wants more of everything! With instant alerts and lead scoring applied, you can see when customers engage with your email branding and what they are interested in. Planning an event? Channel customers directly to the person responsible for event attendance, into an automation platform or Eventbrite. BRILLIANT! Another job off your to do list!
5 – Bridge to nowhere? We don’t think so, link to anywhere
You don’t have to link your email branding to a url! It’s a chance to get creative with endless opportunities including pre-populated email responses, brochure downloads, pod casts and most importantly the mighty popular video content!
6 – BANG! And their off…Who has the most engagement in the team and why?
Reporting helps you learn more about your audience, your team and who you are emailing as a business generally. Check out who within your team communicates with your top accounts or VIP’s improving future campaigns for upsell/cross sell. (You can also see who’s sending the most emails, aka working the hardest! Let the competition begin!)
7 – SHINE and show yourself off
Our brands are everything and we are always looking at ways to shine brighter than our competitors. The right kind of email branding, delivering consistent and personalised brand experience helps you achieve this goal and everyone loves clever and beautiful design.
