5 ways to get the most out of your new DMA website

We hope you’re enjoying your new website. It’s great to see that a few of you have started adding content using our new ‘Contribute’ tool, as that’s what the new website is all about.

Allow me to take you on a quick tour of the site to help you get the very most of all that it has to offer.

The 5 tabs at the top of the page are your gateway to everything you will possibly want to do on our website. (If you need help registering or updating your details in ‘My Account’, see ‘Set up/update My Account’ below.)

1. Curate your feed

This takes you to the content you want quickly. When you click on the curate icon, you’ll see a number of options which you can click on to curate your feed. All you have to do is click the areas you’re interested in. When you’re done, just click on the filters you’ve selected to remove them from the filter box and all the other content will reappear.

2. My Clips

This works a bit like a browser bookmark. It’s where articles that you’ve saved using the scissors icon are filed until you decide to delete the bookmark. You’ll notice that the DMA Code is already there making it easy to you to refer to whenever you need to.

You can also save an article to read later by clicking on the scissors icon next to it or use the arrow icon to share it with your followers on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.

3. Contribute

The new website is very much your website so we’ve added a function that allows you to upload content direct on to the website. All that we ask is that it sticks to our Community Rules (you will see these the first time you click on ‘Start Contributing’).

Remember, your profile will appear next to your content and DMA members will be able to comment on and share your post. Clicking the contribute icon will allow you to see all the content and comments you have posted so that you can easily refer back to them.

4. Connect

This is our new look DMA directory. Use it to find and connect with the DMA member company you’re looking for quickly and easily. Click on ‘Company’ and then use our filters to narrow it down as much as you need to then hit ‘Find Connection’. Or if you know the name of the company, type it in the box.

5. Search

This brings me on to the final tab in the menu, which is an advanced smart search function. Type in a keyword or question to bring up all the related content we have on the website. Once the result come up, refine them with the content type filters until you get the exact information you’re after. (Search also lets you look for DMA member companies.)

Set up/update ‘My Account’
‘My Account’ is what people who want to connect with you will see so it’s worth spending a bit of time adding your biog and uploading a suitably flattering picture. Click on ‘My Account’ followed by ‘Edit Profile to update your details. This section also allows you to control how we, the DMA, communicate with you by selecting your interests.

Having trouble signing in? Click on Forgot your Password and request a new one.

Not registered? If you work for a DMA member organisation, click on ‘Register’.

Not a DMA member? You can browse much of the website content but will not be able to access our guides, research papers or use any of the personalisation features I’ve covered here. (You can find out about joining the DMA here.)http://dma.org.uk/contactus

I hope you find this quick guide useful and look forward to seeing you and your content on the website soon.
