Calling all word-a-holics. Copywriter by trade or passionate about your subject lines? Join our hands-on Future Writers’ Labs course and scribble yourself into the written revolution.

This course is proving very popular and is now fully booked. To be added to the waiting list, please email Ria Huxley.

The unique and totally immersive Future Writers’ Labs allows you to flex your creative wings on a number of experiments and challenges - all in the sanctuary of a fun, fast-paced and unorthodox classroom. This is no lecture-hall.

Debi Bester is the course leader and writer in residence at the DMA. She boasts more than 110 awards for creativity and innovation, and has judged both the DMA Awards and Cannes Lions.

Throughout the course be prepared to write on the spot (gulp); tear apart copy word-by-word with the experts; discover how an onion, popping candy and play-doh can rejuvenate your sentences; and embark on an experiential journey through one special venue in London to find your true written voice.

Modules covered include:

  • The lost art of copywriting vs. Science
  • Evolving your selling into storytelling
  • Brand and consumer – exploring the connection between you both
  • Finding the story in your data – and working with those who manage it
  • Identifying what value your copy creates

To help you get the most out of your Lab, Debi is also joined by a variety of guest tutors. We have previously welcomed Patrick Collister, editor, Directory, Jason Andrews, creative partner, iris Worldwide and Rupert Tebb, a freelance service designer with a passion for creating behaviour changing customer experiences.

We welcome writers of all shapes, all levels and all sizes so you’ll learn next to agency folk, clientside copywriters and freelancers. This course will push all of you way beyond your comfort zone and safely return you as a master of your craft, presenting your course project to the millions.

Apply now.

This course will run every Tuesday evening between Tuesday 5 February - Tuesday 5 March 2019.

Sophie Hockridge, TLC Marketing

“The course was so worthwhile, with lots of writing opportunities (surprise surprise!) and practical examples and tips to help along the way. If you have an element of writing to your role that you want to build upon this course does exactly that. The course leader Debi was great and supported all the way through, particularly with the end of course project which was very rewarding. I was so proud of all the work I had done, and have even showcased it internally at my agency!’

Sofie-Eliza Price, Maggie’s

“The labs are less of a school-type listen, take notes, absorb, and more experiential. By ‘doing’ rather than just listening, I challenged my existing writing skills by having to think outside the box and write the kinds of things I’m not comfortable with writing. And uncomfortable is good!”

John Kirkham, MRM Meteorite

“The way we were taught by Debi allowed me realise some of the potential in my writing skills and also gave me a load of tricks to think more creatively. It’s honestly the best course I’ve done. The fact that you have to write and then read your work really makes the group close and the atmosphere is really supportive. It’s the perfect place to do your best work.”
