Under the leadership of our director of public affairs Caroline Roberts, our legal & public affairs team works very closely with government and policymakers here and in Europe. Their aim is to promote the direct marketing industry and protect our members’ commercial freedom.

What they do

• Use their network of contacts in Westminster, Whitehall and Brussels to protect the direct marketing industry from over-regulation
• Advise members of proposed new legislation in the UK and European Union
• Keep an eye on consultations and regularly submit responses and contributions to consultations in Europe and the UK
• Collect feedback from members to include in responses to consultations and to inform them of our lobbying of MPs and MEPs
• Keep would-be regulators at bay by encouraging self-regulation through best practice documents and the DM Code
• Work with DMA regional managers in DMA Scotland and DMA West to promote the interests of our members (and the industry) to the Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly
